Eldercare Workforce Alliance Lauds Efforts of National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA) Advisory Council

Washington, D.C. — The Eldercare Workforce Alliance commended the National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA) Advisory Council and the Obama Administration for their work to address Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. During the January 17 public comment period held at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, EWA project manager Caitlin Connolly, thanked “the Advisory Council for their work and recognition of the need for a strong workforce and for supporting family caregivers by including a call for building a workforce with the skills to provide high-quality care in the strategic framework. She cautioned the Task Force that “achieving the goals outlined within the framework hinges on the development of and support for a sufficient, skilled eldercare workforce.”

In person and in a letter sent from EWA co-conveners Nancy Lundebjerg and Michèle Saunders, EWA urged the Council to continue to address the need for a well-trained workforce that can provide quality, coordinated, interdisciplinary team care and offered the expertise of the broad array of Eldercare Workforce Alliance member groups to the Advisory Council as they continue this critical work.
