These endorsements reflect the consensus of the Alliance and do not necessarily represent the position of individual Alliance member organizations.

  • EWA Letter to Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) to support the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) Program

    The Eldercare Workforce Alliance (EWA), a coalition of 28 national organizations committed to person-centered team care for older adults, urges Congress to support the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) program and oppose its repeal in any deficit reduction legislation.

  • Letter to Secretary Solis Urging Revision of the Companionship Exemption

    In a letter to Secretary Solis, the Alliance urged the Department of Labor to revise the companionship exemption, and improve quality care by facilitating the recruitment and retention of a quality workforce, in part by expanding federal wage and hour protection.

  • Building a Workforce to Care for an Aging Society: Challenges and Opportunities

    The Eldercare Workforce Alliance hosted a congressional luncheon briefing on the programmatic responses to the looming crisis of an eldercare workforce shortage, based on a newly assembled significant body of knowledge published by the American Society on Aging in their quarterly journal, Generations.

  • EWA letter to CMS Administrator Donald Berwick on EWA principles for pilot care programs

    EWA members have sent Center for Medicare and Medicaid Administrator Donald Berwick a letter on a set of member-developed principles that are essential for the design and implementation of all CMS-funded pilot care programs and demonstrations.

  • EWA letter to Sens. Collins (R-ME) and Mikulski (D-MD) for Reintroduction of Positive of Aging Act (S. 525)

    The members of EWA wrote to Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) thanking them for  reintroducing the Positive Aging Act of 2011 (S. 525) and their leadership in recognizing the importance of improving the mental health care for older adults through interdisciplinary team care.

  • Companionship Exemption

    The Eldercare Workforce Alliance requests the extension of greater federal minimum wage and overtime protection under the Fair Labor Standards Act to the more than 1,500,000 paid home- and community-based care workers who provide essential services to our nation’s older adults and people with disabilities.
