Supporting America’s Home Care Workers
A Capitol Hill Breakfast Briefing hosted by the Direct Care Alliance
Thursday, June 16, 2011, 10–11:15 am
The Direct Care Alliance will be hosting a breakfast briefing, "Supporting America’s Home Care Workers: Caring for America’s Greatest Generation."
Do you know that America’s home care workers—those who help care for our parents, grandparents and loved ones with disabilities—aren’t even entitled by law to minimum wage?
June 11, 2011 is the four year anniversary of the landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling against Evelyn Coke, the lifetime caregiver who took her fight for fair wages and overtime pay never received all the way to the top. Despite the court’s ruling, Ms. Coke remains an inspirational figure for all direct care workers and advocates for the workers, elders and the disabled in America.
Please join us to discuss how Congress can advance solutions to ensure Americans age at home in health and dignity.
